Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin announced that the following criminal sentences issued on April 17 by the visiting Senior Judge Linda Wallach Miller in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas: Brandon Louis Denniston, 22, of Hawley, Pa., was sentenced to 48 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 6 months of probation, fined $1,000 and had his driver's license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving Under the Influence. The state police were dispatched to Office Way North in Dingman Township on Aug. 31, 2015, where Denniston was passed out in his vehicle.

The Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department is holding a roast pork fundraising dinner on Saturday, May 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Blooming Grove Volunteer Firehouse, 484 Route 739, Lords Valley , one mile north of I-84, exit 34. The charge for the dinner is: adults – $12; children – $5; children 3 and under – free. The menu consists of roast pork with garlic, with sauerkraut or plain; BBQ available; mashed potatoes, corn, red cabbage, salad, dinner rolls, coffee, tea, iced tea , and dessert.

A prosecutor asked jurors Tuesday inside the Pike County Courtroom to deliver “nothing less than full justice” in the trial of a man accused of killing a police trooper and injuring a second in a 2014 sniper attack at their barracks. A vehicle struck a school bus at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday on State Route 6 in Pike County. The 2005 Ford Excursion driven by Benjamin Alan Hess, of Saxton, was heading west in Palmyra Township when it crossed the center turning lane for unknown reasons, said Pennsylvania State Police. Hess's vehicle continued into a head-on collision with the front, driver-side of the eastbound school bus driven by Susan Jane Hoch, of Hawley.

Pennsylvania man charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated

A Hawley, Pa., man was jailed after he was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated, and ticketed on charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, crossing road hazard markings and speeding at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday on Bishop Road in the town of Macomb. State police said Walter T. Magie, 33, had one prior DWI arrest and a previous conviction in the past 10 years.
